By adopting solutions from Delta Máquinas Têxteis, an industry with a monthly production of 300 tons added greater quality to its products, in addition to gaining process agility and reducing input costs.
Founded in 1979 in Tietê (SP), Malharia Brasil is an industry specialized in the production of rolls of knitwear for the manufacture of professional and school uniforms. Currently, it also has a unit in Brusque (SC) and national operations. With a production capacity of 300 tons per month, it decided to invest in automation to optimize the manufacturing process, reduce losses and increase the quality of the final product. To achieve this, it had the support of Delta Máquinas Têxteis, a company from Pomerode (SC) that is a reference in technology to enhance industrial textile production, whether through the development of machines, equipment or even software. Focusing on the 4.0 concept, it aligns automation, data management and standardization of intelligent processes, with customers not only in Brazil, but throughout America. During the consultancy, some ideas emerged to further improve the work of Malharia Brasil and its director Beto Mazer did not hesitate in making the investment. Two Hydro Sprinkler Stations were then acquired, which focus on the process of different mesh finishes, and an Automatic Packaging Machine, which not only reduces plastic loss, but also automates the weighing and labeling of the product.
Hydro Sprinkler Station
For Mazer, his product gained a lot in quality after going through the hydro sprinkler station. “With the differentiated finish, the mesh is easier to handle during sewing, this prevents thread breakage and second-line pieces. Furthermore, the touch is softer. The entire chain wins, it is without a doubt a unique item on the market”, he states. Delta’s director, Fabio Kreutzfeld, highlights that this is a common challenge in knitwear. “The mesh ends up losing part of its composition during the process and needs new finishes to add volume and softness, guaranteeing the final quality of the product”, he explains.
Automatic Wrapping Machine
Once the problem related to product quality was resolved, there was a need to speed up packaging. “With the automatic roller wrapper integrated into the water spray stations, we resolved a major bottleneck, in which, despite this, recording errors occurred when weighing and placing labels. Now, with Delta’s technological quality, the process is entirely automated, without the need for human interference, reducing any errors at this stage”, highlights Mazer.
Technology as a driver for recovery
Malharia Brasil’s investments in automation follow the trend of the textile market. In 2021 alone, a survey by ABIT – Brazilian Textile Industry Association showed that companies in the segment invested US$315.6 million in equipment. The result is driven by the expectation of a resumption of sales inside and outside the country and optimization will be crucial for competitiveness, as the sector shows signs of optimism: the sector’s revenue was R$194 billion last year, 20% greater than in 2020.
